The success of a film is measured in both popularity and profit. The first section of charts provides a visual analysis of common metrics, where voting data comes from the Internet Movie Database (IMDB).
You can mock the vanity, excess, and self-congratulatory atmosphere – but who can resist Hollywood’s greatest party, thrown for itself? We found some datasets that list which films won which awards at which ceremony. Most interestingly, we were able to include transcripts of the winner’s speech. We used this chart instances of “no speech,” the average word count of a speech per decade, and most iconic for the Oscars – how frequently music cues per used to wrap up speeches.
